Brand New Subdivision
at twilight
a moose runs
from silent bulldozers
last sun
shines on cigarette butts
left by the construction workers
old tall trees cast long shadows on stunted new ones
curious deer sniff deer repellant
#'s 4 to 12 are still unfinished #1 is sold but empty #2 is still on the block
#3 is occupied
outside on the pool deck,
raccoons lap spores
from the swimming pool surface
TV on,
the people behind
the name on the mailbox
sink into new favorite chairs
on the wall, a watercolor of the valley before development
